Whether it’s a crowd you’re hosting for a party, a few friends to watch the game, or just hanging around the house, nothing pleases the masses better than Salsa and Guacamole! This Dynamic Duo is an everyday staple at my house, especially on taco night or for a long weekend and, with the help of your handy dandy food processor, it’s a cinch to make fresh!

LET’S START WITH THE SALSA

The way to my hubby’s heart isn’t just through his stomach, it’s with SALSA! He loves the stuff and if there is a big ‘ol mason jar filled with salsa each weekend, he is one happy fella!

HOW TO MAKE IT:

First do a quick pulse in your food processor to your fresh veggies (red onion, bell pepper, jalapenos, garlic) and then add in a few cans of fire roasted tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice and zest and season to taste.

The fire roasted tomatoes are the ULTIMATE CHEAT to a deliciously complex flavor without the work… You Smarty Pants! Serve with your favorite chips or alongside tacos, taquitos, on fried eggs or as a condiment for darn near anything!

NOW ONTO THE GUACAMOLE

(such a fun word…Guacamole!)…

Again using a food processor, pulse together onions, bell pepper, jalapenos, cilantro and garlic. Add in avocados, lime and salt. Give the ingredients another pulse and taste for seasoning.

Serve it with all kinds of yummy things and don’t forget the cocktails! Our Watermelon Basil Margarita or Deep Breath Mezcal Cucumber Martini. Either way, you’ve got the makings of one heck of a party! I want to come!

Salsa and Guacamole

Ingredients

    FOR THE SALSA:
  • ½ small red onion, roughly chopped
  • 1 ½ jalapenos, seeded and roughly chopped
  • ½ red bell pepper, roughly chopped
  • ½ bunch cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 1 large garlic clove, roughly chopped
  • 1 thin skin lime – zest and juice
  • 2 cans fire roasted tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt or to taste
    FOR THE GUACAMOLE:
  • ½ red bell pepper, roughly chopped
  • ½ small red onion, roughly chopped
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and roughly chopped
  • ½ bunch cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 1 large clove garlic, sliced
  • Juice and zest of 1 lime
  • 4 avocados, peeled and pit removed
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt or to taste

Instructions

    FOR THE SALSA:
  • Combine all ingredients in food processor. Pulse until desired consistency is reached. Taste for seasoning and adjust with salt if necessary.
    FOR THE GUACAMOLE:
  • Place bell pepper, onion, jalapeno and cilantro into food processor. Pulse until combined. Add garlic, avocados and salt. Pulse until desired consistency is reached. Taste for seasoning and adjust with salt if necessary.
