Last weekend was my sister’s BIG birthday celebration, the first I’ve ever known her to want to shout from the rooftops and celebrate till dawn (which is my normal M.O. when it comes to birthdays, I love them!). Try as I might, I could not get a flight to Miami to join in and hated not being there for her… especially when she rubbed it in that they were out till 5 am dancing! Dying! Today’s “Cocktail Friday” is a toast to my sweet sis Alison. It’s a martini called “The Coco Chanel” that we both fell in love with on a trip to New Orleans at an off-beaten (meaning out of the quarter) little bistro, Marigny Brasserie. It’s completely lovely and classic and so simple to make using only 2 ingredients and a shaker full of ice.

Happy Birthday Alison! I love you so!

I had this martini at the restaurant last weeks and LOVED it! I tried to make it at home and the vodka was far too strong. I bought Smirnoff coconut vodka. I will try Ciroc. BTW – the bartender and the wait staff were amazing! I will go back.

  • I’m going to have a Coco Chanel martini Girls night in two weeks. I plan on serving baked brie with apricot topping, some salamis and cheese and maybe some tiny beef bruschetta. What did you serve to eat with yours?

    • Maggie, That sounds amazing! Can I come? I love or our fig & walnut crostini with the Coco Chanel too. Have fun!
