Before & After Reveals Interiors Living Space Ideas
Wonderfully Welcoming Living Room
Sometimes a living room just needs a breath of new life to become a totally welcoming family room. Check out this classy and stylish redesign.
Our client called wanting help pulling together the finishing details of her Living Room. We tackled the kitchen and the screened in porch too, but that’s another story. Her style was soft and floral in cool hues and with an updated look. The family of 4 had the baseline set (sectional, rug, paint colors, etc) but the room still needed a lot. Here’s our task list and before pics:
TASK LIST
FAMILY ROOM:
- 4 grommet panels @ 108″ each hung on 18′ long curtain rod
- new chair (move leather to bsmt)
- small drum table beside chair
- mantle accessories, floral arrangement
- photography gallery of family going up stairs
- big art/quad of art/mirror for above sofa table (59″)
- framed prints for either side of fireplace
- possible larger coffee table? Current is 34″
- art for behind sofa adjacent to window
- accessories for tables
We got to work!
I ordered beautiful oversized art work and hung a gallery wall going up the stairs.
We added in a fantastic console table found at HomeGoods along with a stunning lamp and bar tray so the owners can an enjoy an evening glass of wine.
A seersucker accent chair from Pier 1 is nestled in the corner paired with a floor lamp and vintage gold metal garden stool (Homegoods). The table is a unique find that adds a pop of unexpected.
Curtains were a MUST in this large room and the Garrison Panels in Ivory were perfect! {TIP: order a few ready made curtains as options to choose from in the space itself instead of trying to pick the perfect shade from your computer screen. Return the ones to the store that don’t work out} We hung them high to show off how tall the room was. 108” panel length worked out perfectly and being that the room already had blinds, they really didn’t need to open and close.
All that was left was the fun stuff. Accessories like picture frames, floral arrangements, candlesticks, framed art, pillows, vases and other table top décor. Keeping to the soft blues, tans, gold and wood tones, made selections easy. {TIP: Buy an assortment of décor that meets your theme or color pallet and shop from within the house. The room will decide what will work and you will eliminate saying “Dang, I should have bought the other one!”}
The final result was a huge transformation! The room is so lovely and warm. Perfect for entertaining or just everyday life and it fit this family in every way.
