Cocktail Friday: The Southern Peach Manhattan
Combination of peaches and bourbon, this Peach Manhattan martini is a southern twist on an old favorite! Deliciously drinkable!
Fun has begun in DA HOUSE! School is in full swing, the big kids have started the new year of USS swimming (year round 4 nights a week!), I have 3 kids on 3 different schedules at 3 different schools, fall design appointments are ringing the phone off the hook, it still feels like stinkin’ summer at 90 degrees, I’m teaching cooking classes all over the place (2 classes this Saturday alone!)…and oh yes, I up and decided to tackle every house project I have left all in one Labor Day weekend! Such a ninny! A ding dong! A coo-coo head! Sheesh! Amidst all this glorious fun (that’s what we call complete chaos these days…), Friday can’t come quick enough! And you know what Friday means… Cocktail Friday!!
Today’s cocktail is a southern twist on an old favorite (or what used to be my old favorite until the infamous “Manhattan Weekend”… but we won’t go into that…at least not until a few more cocktails baby). A Manhattan is a martini made with bourbon (like Knob Creek or Makers Mark) with a touch of sweet vermouth and today i’m making a Peach Manhattan using peaches and bourbon together is a no-brainer southern staple. Delicious! And now my whole family in Louisiana just said “uh-oh!”
Combination of peaches and bourbon, this Peach Manhattan martini is a southern twist on an old favorite! Deliciously drinkable!
Ingredients
- ½ large ripe peach or nectarine, skinned & sliced into wedges
- 2 oz. Peach Schnapps
- 3 oz. good Bourbon (Maker’s Mark, Knob Creek, etc.)
- 1 capful sweet Vermouth
- Ice
Instructions
- In a small blender or food processor, blend together peaches and Schnapps until smooth. You can strain through a sieve if you want the cocktail really smooth or just leave as is if you don’t mind (or are just really thirsty!).
- Pour peach mixture into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Add Bourbon and Vermouth and shake vigorously. Pour into a martini glass.
- Garnish with a thin slice of peach or a maraschino cherry.
