Cocktail Friday: Fireside Sipper
Last weekend my hubby had a very rare weekend away to see a LSU football game (I could care less about football, sorry) with a good friend. Luckily, I have family that live in Baton Rouge and my brother & sister in-law totally hooked the guys up with great seats and a killer tailgate experience. Let’s be frank, Louisiana folk know how to show someone a good time and these two hard working guys deserved every minute of it!
Now, just cuz the Dads are gone doesn’t mean weekend schedules for moms with 3 kiddos each get any less choatic! So my sweet girlfriend and I banded together to tackle it as a team (maybe there is a football theme here?)! Starting with pizza and S’mores by the firepit and jumping on the trampoline in the dark. Happy Kids!
Step one… feed the kids
Step two… get the Mama’s a drink! (I probably should have made that step ONE, right?)
Today’s cocktail is what I made that night and it is AMAZING! Whether you really are sitting by the firepit or not, this cocktail will make you feel like you are! Our “Fireside Sipper” combines Death’s Door Organic Gin (or your favorite Gin), Cognac, St. Germain, Pear Nectar & my new favorite bitters, Havana & Hide Barrel Aged Bitters by 18.21 Bitters. Available online or in their shop located in Ponce City Market in Atlanta, these folks are taking at home cocktails to a new level with their bitters, shrubs and syrups. I’m like a kid in a candy store when I visit. Their flavors blow my mind and it is so easy to completely transform the ordinary drink to new levels by just adding a few drops of their goodness. Love them! Read more on 18.21 Bitters and Ponce City Market in this post. Simply shake all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice for a good 15-30 seconds then strain into a pretty glass. I love these coupe glasses and these stubby martini glasses for drinks like this!
