Cocktail Friday: Blissful Afternoon
A bright and crisp St Germain and gin cocktail. The perfect light and delicate drink to sip and enjoy company on a Blissful Afternoon!
My sister took my daughter Gracie for a belated celebratory birthday overnight sleepover at her place. They went jean shopping, ate al fresco at one of the best pizza joints in the city (Atntico Pizza), and then the next morning went to the most amazing farm to go horseback riding (at Serenbe Farms)!
What a treat for sweet Gracie. She was in heaven! Both from having devoted one-on-one time with her Auntie Alison and also from getting to do so many fun activities. The weather was perfect, especially for my sister who is new to Atlanta and the beauty of what fall has to offer here. Simply perfect blue skies, fall colors and crisp air. The best.
So when they got back from nearly 48 hours of fun, most of it outdoors, we fixed some afternoon St Germain and Gin cocktails and took to the patio to hear all about their day and enjoy even more time out in the fresh fall air. We are officially addicted to Fall (its a clinical diagnosis people!).
I made us something light and crisp and delightfully drinkable. Alison and I both love gin, fresh grapefruit and St. Germain (an elderflower liqueur easily found at any liquor store). Why not mix them all together, pour it in a pitcher, grab a few straws and head to the lounge chairs. The kids followed and were soon competing in their own race across the yard obstacle course. A “Blissful Afternoon” to say the least!

Ingredients
- 2 oz gin
- 1 oz St. Germain
- 2 Large Grapefruit Wedges
- 2-3 oz Club Soda
- Ice
Instructions
- Fill a tall glass halfway with ice.
- Down inside the glass, strongly squeeze the grapefruit wedge so that the oils from the skin and the juice coat the ice and the glass. Leave in the glass.
- Pour in the gin and St. Germain. Top with club soda. I like stronger drinks so I use less club soda. You can add as much as you like here or if you like sweeter cocktails, use tonic.
