Amaretto Whiskey Sour: The Double Pucker
The perfect blend of two cocktail classics, The Double Pucker is an Amaretto Whiskey Sour and is beautifully perfect for entertaining!
Winter is cold snaps, frosty snowflakes, bright mornings, basketball and family gatherings. Our family unfortunately this past year has been gathering more for grandparent funerals than for the other festive stuff. We’ve lost 4 this past year. But when your grandparents live to their 90’s, some as old as 97 or 98, how can you not celebrate? Amazing lives we would all be lucky to live and rich in love, family, and a legacy left behind.
This weekend we’re with my hubby’s Yankee peeps celebrating our Grandma Kay who passed away just after Christmas. I named my daughter Gracie after this spunky, fashion forward little lady who was a highlight to marrying into my new last name. She was 97. I loved her like my own and am excited to spend the weekend in two different states celebrating her.
Every celebration needs a cocktail. Today’s cocktail is much like Grandma Kay. This cocktail will grasp anyone’s attention! Sweet, sour, strong, aromatic, and down right spunky! A blend of a Whiskey Sour and an Amaretto Sour, it’s aptly named “The Double Pucker”.
I blend Amaretto, Rye Whiskey (I used Southern Rye Whiskey which is damn good alone or in cocktails), freshly squeezed lemon juice and simple syrup (for more about simple syrups in cocktails read here) poured over a king-sized ice cube. This family rarely drank before I swept in but now we have a cocktail bar and ever so much fun playing with “What shall Mandy make?” each night. It’s a hoot & I love it!
Sweet, sour, strong, aromatic, and down right spunky!
